analytical essayThe main purpose of writing an analytical essay is to examine writer’s thoughts. In order to compose a good analytical essay, a writer needs to gather enough information that is relevant to the thesis statement that he or she is investigating.

You may agree with the writer’s point of view. On the other hand, analytical essays may present some ideas that are different from the writer’s subjective opinion.

If you are eager to create a perfect analytical essay, include the following elements into your piece of writing:

  • A brief summary of the original piece. In this section of your analytical essay, you will introduce the original work itself. Its summary will be the introductory part of your analytical essays;
  • Your opinion about the book. Good analytical essays should reveal your feedback to the work you have read. Here, you will also have to present your interpretation of what you have read. Reflect any relevant thoughts you have on the subject- do you find any similarities between you and the main hero, do you understand his/her behaviour, etc.
  • Presentation of your assumptions. In this section of your analytical essay, you will have to discuss the assumptions that are explicit and implicit, warranted and unwarranted;

  • Discussion of the contradictions within your subject. Some issues are so controversial, that they contain some contradiction inside of them. You need to notice it and explain it;
  • General research conclusions. It is impossible to create good analytical essays without including some reasonable conclusions. So, present them in your own analytical essay.

An analytical essay is very close to an evaluation essay, or, what is more, to a critical essay, where a writer has to evaluate different arguments, criticize them.
