Digital Dissertation 22 Apr 2008

Well, you have to accomplish rather a serious task – write a dissertation. It is a time-consuming work, without any doubts. You will have to choose a topic, gather materials, analyze them, structure your work, etc.

When I had to write my own dissertation, I used the digital form of a dissertation, since it is more convenient. There are several reasons that helped me make the choice.

  • Digital dissertations are easy to correct;
  • Digital dissertations are helpful in terms of different spelling, grammar or punctuation mistakes (since the computer, if does not correct, then underlines all of them);
  • Digital dissertations can be easily prepared (when comparing to the handwritten assignments);
  • Digital dissertation is easy to design in accordance with all the requirements specified by your department and the dissertation committee.

All these are naturally the advantages of digital dissertations, but…what can actually happen is…

As it usually happens, the most unexpected occurs exactly when you do not even think of it. This is exactly about me. My computer broke down and the most terrible thing about it was that the whole text of my dissertation was lost. Who was guilty?

Naturally, I was. I did not save my dissertation on any information medium. So, you may guess what was happening then. Fortunately, I had some of the printed drafts of my digital dissertation and this helped me restore it (anyways, I lost so much time)

What should you do to avoid such situations with digital dissertations?

First and foremost, you should save your digital dissertation on some information medium. More than that, any time you make changes in your digital dissertation, you should save them.

If you do this, you will not have any problems with digital dissertations, but will only enjoy the process of writing it.

Wish you good lock and never get into such situations. Quite the contrary, let this technological progress help you in your beginnings.
